From ticket prices for the 2012 Paralympics Games to wheelchair accessible taxis in Washington there has been plenty of good news for wheelchair users this month.

As excitement is building ahead of next year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games, the announcement that 2 million tickets will be released with 95% available at £50 was welcome news. Prices for the Paralympic Games starts at just £10 a ticket for adults and £5 for under 16s. With extra free tickets available for group organisers there will be no shortage of demand from those wanting to experience the excitement of the Games.

Across the Atlantic there was also some good news for wheelchair accessible taxi users. 20 wheelchair taxis were put into commission this month in Washington after a $1 million grant was made available. The taxis, described as regular minivans have been modified so that the passenger can access the vehicle on a ramp. Passengers will pay normal Washington taxi rates for this service with taxi drivers receiving an additional $2 per trip from the grant. With more than 12,000 people in Washington travelling by wheelchair this is likely to make life a little bit easier and cheaper for those travelling in the city.

Closer to home have you looked at our latest range of wheelchair accessible vehicles? New arrivals this month include a Peugeot Partner Tepee and a Fiat Doblo all adapted for wheelchair use.
